Courses & Sequences offered at Wakefield High School
The mission of Career and Technical Education is to provide offerings that meet student needs, interests, abilities, and aspirations and respond to actual or anticipated opportunities for employment, advanced education, and practical life application.
To earn a concentration for graduation, students must take at least (4) technical credits in a Career Cluster; one earned must be a completer course identified by a asterisk (*). The student may earn all four credits from foundation courses or three from foundation and one from enhancement courses for the Career Cluster. Please also refer to the CTE Course Map Guide for recommendations on course sequencing. Students who complete a CTE Concentration will be eligible to take the ACT WorkKeys Assessment to earn national certification in Career Readiness.

NC High School to Community College Articulation Agreement

This statewide articulation agreement is comprised of high school CTE courses that match the knowledge and skills taught in similar community college courses. The articulation agreement ensures that if a student is proficient in their high school course, the student can receive college credit for that course at any North Carolina community college.

There are several colleges and universities that will accept these transfer credits from Wake Tech once they have been added to the Wake Tech Transcript. The student must take at least 1 Wake Tech course to generate this transcript! Every educational institution has its own policies as it relates to transferring in course equivalencies. How will the credit be awarded?
The following criteria will be used to award college credit for identified high school courses:
- Grade of B or higher in the course (80 or higher), &;
- A scaled score of A (90 or higher) on the CTE post assessment (either provided by NC DPI or an approved third party), &;
- Students must enroll at Wake Tech within two years of their high school graduation date (Students can add these credits free of charge while taking a Dual Enrollment Course in High School!).
Steps to apply for the credit (Mrs. Joyner can assist with all of these!):
- You need verification of Final Grade and the Exam Grade for the Course (Unofficial Transcript and Report Card)
- You need to print out a copy of the corresponding List/Articulation Agreement above and highlight the courses that you have earned credit for.
- You need to get all of this information to the Transcript Evaluation Team at Wake Tech Contact info:
